India is home to some of the most significant sources of unmanaged plastic waste worldwide. An estimated 1.2 billion pounds of plastic waste enter the Ganges River every year, which is one of ten global rivers transporting more than 90% of river-based plastics to the ocean.

That’s why the Alliance to End Plastic Waste is contributing funding, materials, logistics capabilities and technical expertise to Renew Oceans’ work in India. On the banks of the Ganges River, we’re empowering and engaging the community – so that our biggest challenge becomes our biggest opportunity.
