“We have to act with urgency as lack of action will result in millions of tons of plastic waste continuing to leak into the ocean if we do nothing today.”
– JACOB DUER | President & CEO, Alliance to End Plastic Waste
The Alliance is honoured and proud to announce our 2020 Progress Report entitled “It All Starts with Collaboration.”
We have activated 14 projects across 14 cities in six countries: Ghana, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Africa—all at the frontline of the plastic waste challenge.
We have a long road ahead of us but with deep technical knowledge from the full plastic value chain and strong partnerships with organisations like UN-Habitat, USAID, the Global Plastic Action Partnerships and the development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, all relevant parties are at the table working to bring about even more resources to help achieve and maintain plastic waste-free cities.
We are operating in extraordinary circumstances and our most significant adversity is time. Despite the impact of COVID-19, we are forging ahead and in this report, you will learn more about how our work is bridging the gap between intention and action. We are elevating the waste management agenda in every city.
We are pushing for new ideas and innovations so we can make even bigger strides faster. Businesses, organisation and communities coming together to help a better world. Learn how far we came in this plastic waste report.
“The Alliance is in a unique position. We can unlock circularity and economic value in post-consumer plastic by supporting a range of innovative measures along the value chain, involving individuals and the public and private sectors.”
