Enabling the ecosystem
Connecting the global plastic circularity ecosystem for impact
The power of collective action in driving systems change
Advancing circularity hinges on the collaboration of governments, businesses, civil society, financial institutions, and academia, both globally and locally.
We convene stakeholders in the plastic circularity ecosystem through trusted engagement and dialogue. This allows us to scale the benefits of our work across value chains, partners and local communities.
What is possible when we enable the ecosystem?
The UN International Legally Binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution
As an accredited business and industry observer with the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, The Alliance actively engages in key intergovernmental meetings. Once the International Legally Binding Instrument is developed, we are committed to swiftly translating the instrument into action that delivers real-world impact.
Accelerating innovation among startups
A partnership with Plug and Play, the End Plastic Waste Innovation Platform aims to foster startups from across the plastic value chain and transform plastic waste management around the world. With the support of our members and partners, we accelerated more than 160 startups in 7 countries across the value chain. Over US$185 million in capital has been invested and deployed into these startups, resulting in more than 220 commercial pilots.
Youth leading the charge
The Changemakers programme aims to empower and enable youth to implement effective waste management strategies in their community. By equipping them with knowledge on plastic waste management, the education programme hopes to encourage the next generation to become agents of change, promoting local solutions and advancements towards plastic waste sustainability.
Supporting women-owned businesses
With a signed Memorandum of Understanding with WEConnect International, we aim to identify and register women-owned enterprises globally that can contribute to ending plastic waste and promote a circular economy. We seek to better connect women who operate businesses and social enterprises with major suppliers in the plastic value chain – to create end market for recyclates, to foster more inclusive plastic value chains, and create strong social benefits through joint projects.
Learning and acting as a community
Clean4Change educates communities about proper recycling, raises their environmental awareness, and encourages them to participate in reducing plastic waste. By fostering widespread engagement and understanding, the Alliance aims to drive lasting behaviour change that supports a more sustainable future.
