Alliance to End Plastic Waste Broadens its Global Network

Welcomes new members Greif, Inabata, Origin Materials, and UFlex 

Singapore, September 21, 2021 — The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (Alliance) continues to strengthen its global network of members across the plastics value chain, with new members Greif, Inabata & Co., Origin Materials, and UFlex. 

Ole Rosgaard, Chief Operating Officer of Greif, said: “As a leader in industrial packaging, we recognise the responsibility we have to reduce the environmental impact of our products and operations, and contribute towards a more circular economy. We are excited to join other like-minded companies as a member of the Alliance. Through open collaboration and leadership provided by the Alliance, we can advance the need for more sustainable packaging and tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues. I look forward to working closely with other Alliance members to advance our shared ambitions and contribute to more sustainable outcomes.” Greif is a global leader in industrial packaging products and services. 

Katsutaro Inabata, Director and President of Inabata & Co., said: “Plastics is one of our core business areas along with information and electronics. Smart use of plastics and waste reduction is undoubtedly essential for the global environment. We have been working on plastic recycling while exploring opportunities for innovative technologies such as biodegradable plastics. It is our privilege to be a member of the Alliance, and we are committed to taking part in its mission to end plastic waste.” Inabata is a Japanese trading company specialising in chemicals, operating globally.  

Rich Riley, co-CEO of Origin Materials, said: “Stakeholders across the manufacturing sector and end product markets recognise that to create a sustainable, circular economy, we must aggressively decarbonise the global plastics supply chain to mitigate the climate impact of plastic. We are excited to join together with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste to drive awareness and technical expertise of carbon-negative innovations in reducing the footprint of plastics, and toward the new circular economy.” Origin Materials is the world’s leading carbon negative materials company.

Ashok Chaturvedi, Chairman and Managing Director of UFlex, said: “The plastic waste crisis is one of the most pressing global concerns of today. The Alliance can help us bolster our efforts and re-write the overall story of how plastic waste can be repurposed for good. The Alliance currently has 66 members across the plastics value chain.
