The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (“Alliance”) is an international non-profit organisation partnering with government, environmental and economic development NGOs and communities around the world to address the challenge to end plastic waste in the environment. Through programmes and partnerships, the Alliance focuses on solutions in four strategic areas: infrastructure, innovation, education and engagement, and clean up. As of Dec 2021, the Alliance has more than 85 member companies and supporters representing global companies and organisations across the plastic value chain.
Tackling plastic waste is a complex challenge that requires collective action. Since 2019, the Alliance has convened a global network of industry leaders across the plastics value chain, together with government, civil society, entrepreneurs, and communities to work towards advancing a circular economy for plastic waste. Reporting to the Program and Project Support Lead, the Analyst (Program and Project Support) is responsible for data collection, analysis, reporting, and coordination to monitor project performance, support Alliance impact metrics data collection, and ensure accurate reporting. The analyst supports project managers and key teams by providing actionable insights and operational assistance across the program lifecycle while also contributing to early-stage relationship building and the generation of new project ideas.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Enhancements: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to project performance, budgets, timelines, and resource utilization. Identify trends and propose process enhancements to improve project efficiency and effectiveness. Provide analysis and insights to the Program and Project Support Lead to support key organizational decisions.
- Data and IT Management: Support user transition to new IT platforms and digital tools critical for program management and reporting. Support efforts to identify and implement improvements to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Tracking and Monitoring: Track milestones for each funding agreement to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope. Monitor milestone due dates and remind project managers (PMs) and contract performance managers (CPMs) as necessary to maintain compliance with performance targets. Flag delays exceeding three months and escalate for formal change requests, ensuring timely resolution. Track project closures and ensure closure reports are submitted.
- Impact Reporting: Lead the preparation of quarterly impact report slide decks, synthesizing data and creating visualizations to communicate program achievements. Facilitate data submission into Salesforce and Excel by PMs/CPMs, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Create and manage new impact metric records on Salesforce, verify applicable metrics for projects, and ensure data alignment with reporting periods. Conduct random checks on evidence ratings submitted by PMs/CPMs to maintain data quality and reliability.
- Support to Program Development, Implementation, and Project Execution: Provide timely and relevant information to the Program Development and Implementation team to support decision-making processes. Beautify and enhance the quality of slide decks and reports for presentation to leadership and stakeholders, where needed. Ensure one-pager project updates by PMs/CPMs are aligned with project financials and Steering Committee findings.
- Documentation through Stage Gate System: Document and develop project decisions efficiently through the stage gate system, maintaining accurate records to support project lifecycle management.
- Internal Reporting and Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date reporting and data for internal processes, ensuring the integrity of information used for decision-making. Support internal reporting efforts to ensure the timely submission of relevant metrics and project information to leadership.
Professional Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in relevant field (e.g., engineering, environmental science, economics, public policy)
- 3+ years relevant experience with practical plastics or waste management industry experience and knowledge of sustainability topics and technologies preferred.
- Significant drive and results orientation; self-starter and able to work independently.
- Good analytical skills to understand and summarize project proposals – scope, key objectives, expected outcome, strategic fit etc. Attention to detail is important.
- Can do attitude, problem solving skills, resourceful, new business development and learner mindset.
- Able to manage broad set of simultaneous tasks and co-ordinate small teams of assigned member company staff.
- Excellent English communication skills – both written and oral. Proficiency in a second language – Spanish or Portuguese is preferred but not required.
- Highly personable and diplomatic, able to interface and influence project partner teams at all levels.
- The role involves interaction with others globally, may require to work outside regular working hours depending on time zone.
