We look for impactful and scalable solutions that generate value and move us up the waste hierarchy, helping us to achieve a future free of plastic waste—from the collection and containment of waste, to packaging designs that increase opportunities for circularity, to community action and educational programmes.
Research shows that replacing just 20% of single-use plastic packaging with reusable alternatives is another key step for a circular economy—to end plastic waste in the environment. In addition, it offers to unlock a potential opportunity worth at least USD 10 billion that could benefit both businesses and consumers.
Part of the work involves shifting from a ‘make, use and dispose’ model of convenience, to fostering a habit of reusing packaging.
Current reuse models fall into 1 of 4 types—refill-at-home, return from home, return on-the-go and refill on-the-go. This Request for Proposal (RFP) seeks to build on existing business concepts and to support the creation of significant, consumer oriented and large-scale solutions—enabling widespread adoption and implementation.
Proposals must demonstrate business concepts which are already commercially proven, and ready to scale into multi-city, national or international levels.
Proposals can be submitted by all categories of entities and organisations—public or private, for-profit or not-for-profit. The application period runs from now till 30 November 2021.
